About the store
My name is Mrs. Dean, and this is the Dean's List! I only sell material I have taught in my own classroom, so it has all been tested! In my 15 years of experience teaching ELA, I have grown to love creating my own assignments and lessons. Hope you enjoy! I have taught inner city high school for the past 15 years, but recently switched over to teach virtually (it's amazing!). My experience spans 9-12 grade and all different subjects/abilities. Over the years I have taught ELL, SPED inclusion classes, behavioral interventionist classes, AP Lang, creative writing, dual enrollment courses, and everything in between.

I used this in my classroom (during my formal observation!) and it went so well! This is meant a full class lesson from the projector with lots of class involvement. I do not have a worksheet that goes along with this, but there are enough places for interaction with the students, you shouldn't need one to manage the class. It's a VERY long powerpoint, so feel free to hide some of the slides to focus on others. I always over plan my classes in order to have some wiggle room for where I want to g

These worksheets have been so successful in my classroom when we are working on writing. It's so hard for students to wrap their brain around how to improve their writing past checking their grammar. This assignment teaches them practical and real ways to make their writing GREAT! Go get the FREE POWERPOINT that goes along with this. This contains TWO WORKSHEETS that can function separately. Each worksheet has a sample paragraph (written by me) that they are to improve. One paragraph is abou

**This pairs with a set of worksheets to use if you'd like some practice**After teaching writing for 15 years, I've developed some tips and tricks to take writing from GOOD to GREAT. Most students don't really know what to do after they have checked their grammar. They've run their essay or paragraph through grammarly and it says it's "perfect", but we know it's not! This is a lesson that addresses that. How do you make GOOD writing GREAT writing?? This is a google slides presentation that goes

This is an assignment I created for my classes because I wanted to give them the opportunity to express their opinions after we finished reading Romeo and Juliet together. I have two different options of worksheets for you to choose what works best for your students. After reading Romeo and Juliet, students will develop and discuss their opinions on topics pertaining to the story. This creates a lively and interactive class period where students end their time by developing their opinions into

Teaching style

I believe in high-rigor, and high-support. All of my lessons are created to help students reach higher order thinking no matter their starting point.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was teacher of the year the year I taught GOVERNMENT....wild, huh? how did that happen? it's a long story that mostly involves the teacher shortage in low income schools BUT it proved to me I can teach anything. Our scores rose by 17% that year....they tried to keep my in Government, but man. Shakespeare was beckoning me back to English.

My own education history

I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education.

Additional biographical information

I love my husband, my four kids, running, coffee, podcasts, and Jesus.
