Math Talk Prompts

Use this to post in your classroom as a visual reminder for students during math talks. It provides some sentence starters and types of discussions to consider when presented with a compelling math problem. Students can also use this in a small group to become more independent in having discussions around math problems without needing teacher prompting. Credit to Tealazzo Clipart

Teaching style

I always love a good challenge and finding new ways to teach. My focus in instruction is on student choice and independence. My goal is for all students to find success and to grow in their confidence. I want my students to feel supported enough to try on their own and to feel pride in their accomplishments.

My own education history

I have my B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education and received my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I taught for one year as a general education homeroom teacher in an inclusion fifth grade class and then moved to being the Special Education teacher for the classroom and have been since.
