This math center activity is great for the holiday season and for reviewing common core standards K.CC.3 & 4. Students will choose a Christmas tree card, count the ornaments on the tree, write the number on a line below the first tree on the Recording Sheet, then color the tree. These task cards can be used by students individually or in a small group setting to practice skills associated with Common Core Standards K.CC4a,b, and c. (After printing on card stock, the teacher could cut the pages in half since they are printed two on a page.) The cards can be even be placed in clear page protectors to make them more durable. This game can be used in conjunction with a Solar System unit or at any point during the year to reinforce common core standard K.CC4. It would be best suited for 1 or 2 children at a time. I provided my students with a small bag of wooden stars from the craft store to go along with the Solar System theme but any counters would do. The children will also need dice.
