Over 35 years of experience teaching in Louisiana, Texas and Colorado in elementary and middle school. Worked with National Science Foundation grant program for five years, coaching and providing professional development to teachers in five local school districts. Since 2009, an instructor for Colorado College in Science Methods. Currently a Methods and Strategies Coach for local school districts, working with classroom teachers in science and literacy integration. I am a Educational Consultant in science and literacy, working with staff to adapt districts curriculum to state standards and Common Core.

Experience

Over 35 years of experience teaching in Louisiana, Texas and Colorado in elementary and middle school. Teaching style

I work with students and teachers using inquiry-based methods in hands-on, minds-on learning. Students think, investigate, record, then share, communicating thinking and learning in small and whole group settings.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Recipient of many grants in science and literacy. Selected as Teacher of the Year in Cheyenne Mountain School District, Colorado Springs. Voted one of Top 100 Teachers in America. Selected for Distinguished Contribution to Education Award in Colorado. Honored by City of Colorado Springs as recipient of Education's Unsung Heroes Award in Teaching. Published in three issues of Science & Children.

I live in Colorado Springs with husband, near to our daughter and her family. I volunteer regularly at grandchildren's school.
