This is the revamped version of the STAAR Practice test created a few years ago. Some questions have remained the same, but many are new to reflect the NEW TEKS. The TEA blueprint for the STAAR test was used to help create a balanced test covering the right percentages of each TEK, reporting category, and readiness/supporting standards.
If you're looking for a way to help prep your class for taking the STAAR this is a great resource. It comes with a key and practice bubble sheet complete with
One basic structure of linear functions is the multiplicative relationship. Middle school is the perfect time to merge real-world skills with multiplicative reasoning.
Teachers, start the unit by downloading the free template. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Understanding-Multiplicative-Relationships-An-Introduction-to-Proportionality-551122

10 question assignment addressing rates and ratios. Includes equivalency tables, double number lines, coordinate grids, and multiple choice items.
May be used as whole class teaching examples, independent practice, or as an end of unit quiz.
Appropriate for grades 4-6.
This resource includes five activities appropriate for students in pre-algebra or early algebra courses and ranging in difficulty. Whether working only in Quadrant I, or in all four quadrants, this resource can provided scaffolded practice to meet the needs of all your students, regardless of current ability.
My personal favorite is the "turtle activity" inspired by LogoPaths (an awesome geometry resource- check it out!).
This activity was designed for sixth grade students to complete on our nearby football field. Knowledge and skills incorporated into this activity include:
+Converting yards to feet using multiplication
+Finding perimeter and area with rational numbers, including fractions
+Simplifying fractions
+Representing fractions as decimals and percent values
+Prime numbers
+Integer operations
+Equivalent fractions and reasonableness
This product is a template. First, model how to use the template using a real world example from your life. In order to build relationships with students and make progress towards goals, use appropriate context vocabulary to elicit classroom communication.
To implement, watch the "Teaching Multiplicative Relationships" video for a sample lesson. Think of your own examples to get started. This is engaging to students. They want to hear about your life.
Once students show mastery of the template
