This packet was used for our 8th grade students to practice the moon phases. In this activity, they had to define the moon phases, draw the phases, as well as identify moon phases and order them sequentially.
This lab will help students conceptualize that plants in the dark will go through cellular respiration and in the light, plants go through photosynthesis. For the plant, I would suggest going to Petsmart or another pet supply store that sells live, under-water plants. Post-lab questions are also included.
Students pick an animal of their choice and complete a research project. My students created a google slide show for their information, but students could also do a presentation or a poster.
Students will read an experiment and graph the data using a bar graph. Then, students will answer questions about the experiment including identifying the independent and dependent variables and analyzing the results of the experiment.
In this activity, I hung up all 12 experiments around my room. Students were given the first page of the document to record their answers on. Every two minutes, students rotated to the next station. Make sure you delete the answers off of the experiments before hanging them up around the room.

When the astronauts walked on the moon forty years ago (1969), they actually weighed less on the Moon than they did on Earth. Your weight is determined by your mass (mass is a measurement of how much matter is in an object) multiplied by the force of gravity on that celestial object. Earth has a gravitational pull (force) of 9.8 m/s2. All the planets in our solar system have a different force of gravity. The more mass a planet has, the stronger its gravitational force. As a result, a person woul
I print out one set for each student in my class, cut out each card, and place in a baggie. Students use this as a review to help them match up the domain or kingdom with its characteristics and examples.
We use this lab during the first week of school to introduce students to the scientific method. Students observe what happens to gobstoppers when they are placed in water.
First students will identify two variable in each scenario. Then, students will just identify the independent variable in 5 scenarios. Lastly, students will identify the dependent variable in 5 scenarios. *Fully editable* Answer key included on the second page.
In this unit, students learn about all 8 moon phases and eclipses. To view the PowerPoint for these guided notes, go to my store dashboard and click on "Moon Unit; Powerpoint"
This study guide will help students review rotation, revolution, orbits, and the reasons for the seasons. Students will practice by completing a fill-in-the-blank questions, short answer, and diagram questions. (Answers not included)
In this google draw activity, students will learn the differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Students will move the text boxes to the correct category. This is a great warm-up or exit ticket activity. The answer key is located on the right side of the page, so make sure you delete it before sharing the google draw with your students :)
This short quiz was used to assess students' understanding on rotation and revolution. There are two versions here to be used with honors and academic levels classes.
Whenever my class plays jeopardy, I give every student one of these blank boards. All students are required to write down the answers for every question. This makes sure all students are engaged and limits the amount of students who are off task when it is not their team's turn.
