This task is intended to assess student application of area and perimeter for 2-D Shapes. Every year my students get excited to complete this assessment. They can't believe I take this for a grade because it's so fun to do! Objective: Students are expected to create a house plan/layout of their dream house. This is a rubric I created while teaching 3rd Grade Social Studies. Our school system uses Gallopade for Social Studies. This rubric goes along with Chapter 15 in Gallopade. Activity: This was a fun summative assessment for students. Students created mini-booklets for each explorer we learned about. I allowed students to use their Gallopade books and this self-made rubric to complete the activity/assessment over a few class periods.
