This is a Halloween and Grammar activity I used after I read aloud Arthur's Halloween. The words in the word sort is from the story Arthur's Halloween. Students have to identify which word is a common and proper noun. All the words are lower case, which make it harder to identify. This is a rubric I created while teaching 3rd Grade Social Studies. Our school system uses Gallopade for Social Studies. This rubric goes along with Chapter 15 in Gallopade. Activity: This was a fun summative assessment for students. Students created mini-booklets for each explorer we learned about. I allowed students to use their Gallopade books and this self-made rubric to complete the activity/assessment over a few class periods.
