About the store
I have been in education for over 30 years. I started out teaching science to elementary school level students and continued this for over 10 years. I moved to middle school science and have continued my career teaching a blended science program as well as high school physical science to 8th graders.
My career also includes mentoring new teachers, sharing best practices, leading groups of science teachers (as a department leader and as a professional learning committee leader), an academic science coach, and staff developer. I have a special interest in curriculum and instruction and was awarded my EdD in 2023.
I am excited to have this opportunity to share what has worked and what is currently working to help my students achieve and become life long critical thinkers.

Cellular Respiration, Photosynthesis, & Law of Conservation of Matter Activity is a hands on way for students to understand and visualize the concepts. It converts a difficult concept for students into an easy eye opening experience. This activity is NOT a one day activity, rather it is a 2 day activity. I use it AFTER I teach the concepts. Martian Periodic Table
This is a great activity to see if student understand the organization of the Periodic Table. I made it simple compared to otheres out there. I have middle school students and this is a simple overview.
The students get 'clues' to figure out where the elements go based on our 'rules'. Then the students must predict the missing element that has not been discoved and tell us about it as Mendeleev did.

Bubble Lab
This is a great activity to help students learn about variables, scientific method, measuring, data collection, and graphing.
This can be done in the beginning of the year or at the end of the year when looking to have fun.
Children work in partners, creating bubbles, measuring bubbles and deciding which soap brand makes the biggest bubbles.

pH Testing Lab Activity
This is a 3 page lab activity for testing pH of household substances. Page one is a blank pH scale where students need to write in the substances and their corresponding pH (based on testing). They also identify facts (characteristics) of acids and bases.
Page 2 has a color copy of Hydrion paper color changes for easy identification.
Page 3 is a test mat (that I suggest laminating for yearly use) that the students use to place their unknown substances and pH paper.

Pendulum Lab (Variables/Scientific Method) Power Point
This is the power point that goes along with my Pendulum Lab - Lab sheets.
It helps to guide the teacher and the students into predictions, inferences, observations, data collection, graphing, concluding, reporting and discussion.

This is the spread sheet that goes along with my power point and Martian Periodic Table activity. The students use their knowldge of the organization of the periodic table (basic) to create a Martian Periodic Table based on 'clues'. Then they have to figure out which is the missing element (not discoved yet), identify it and give information about it. There is a bundle discount. This can also be downloaded and a Google Sheet can be created.

Teaching style
I believe students need to experience content and not memorize content. Students need to have experiences to build upon future experiences. The classroom should be a learning community where the students are active learners and teachers are coaching them, not instructing them. We experience life on a daily basis and that is what learning is about.
