About the store
I have had the pleasure of teaching for four years now at a rural High School in Florida. I currently teach English I Honors and a variety of Drama courses. I have also taught English III (American Lit) for two years and gifted 8th grade Language Arts during my internship (with an emphasis on Shakespeare).
My Drama courses include Introductory Drama, Theatre I, Theatre II, Theatre III Honors, Theatre IV Honors, Technical Theatre, Acting I, and Stage Management and Directing.

Theatre of the Absurd Script Project
This handout provides details to a final assessment project for a Theatre of the Absurd unit. Students will write a short script in the Absurdist style.

Audience Etiquette Tableau Project
After teaching students the basics of audience etiquette. Tableau is a simple way to introduce students to performing on stage as it only requires posing. This project combines both topics into one assessment.

Method Acting Research Project
This handout details the guidelines for a research project in which students work in pairs to research one teacher of an acting method. They will create a PowerPoint or Prezi (detailed slide-by-slide in the handout) to teach the class about the teacher and to guide the class in one of his or her exercises.
I had great success with this project. Students ended up presenting for up to 25 minutes, becoming the teachers in the classroom!

Radio Drama Project
This handout provides instructions for a group project in which students write a script for a radio drama and record their performance on their smartphones. This does not teach formatting for scripts, but rather assesses student's understanding of vocal performance.

Public Speaking Poster Project
This project instructs students to research the causes and solutions to the fear of public speaking and then present the poster using strong public speaking skills. This may accompany a voice and diction unit or speech project. I use this as an alternative assignment when we watch The King's Speech if a student has not turned in the parent permission form to watch the film.

Voice and Diction Assessment Project
After studying basic principals of proper diction and projection through vocal exercises, students are asked to dramatically read a poem to the class displaying mastery of key vocal skills for theatrical performance.
This handout covers the guidelines and expectations, along with a rubric.

Teaching style
Whether in my English Language Arts or Drama lessons I strive to foster creativity, critical thinking, and independence in my students. Through cooperative learning and applying the Gradual Release of Responsibility, students are able to explore the subjects of Literature and Theatre independently, with the security of a safety net in the support found in my lessons.

I earned my B.A. in English at the University of Florida and then returned for my M.Ed. in English Education. I am certified in secondary English Language Arts.
Additional biographical information
In addition to my formal education in English, I have been involved in the Theatre Arts for 22 years. Beginning in my Mother's dance classes, I moved on to acting and eventually directing. I have been active within my community's theater for nearly ten years now and I am constantly striving to gain more knowledge in theatre.
