Students will answer questions about 4 weather maps using the pictures provided. Questions will address types of weather associated with fronts, front names and symbols, and change in temperatures due to fronts.
Students will explore planets and objects in our solar system as well as a couple exoplanets. They will use the research provided to determine if it is habitable. (To increase rigor students could perform their own research.)
Each student will receive their own planet and fill out the flow chart on their planet. Those flow charts will then be used in a gallery walk the next day. Each student will receive the grid chart and fill in the remainder of the planets using the other student's flo
Each student will create a brochure over a Texas Ecoregion. The brochure includes information about the ecoregion, a food web, weathering, erosion, deposition, and human impact of the region. Students will be doing a lot of research. You have the option to have an electronic or hand drawn final product.
Students will pick 8-10 organisms provided from a marine, terrestrial or freshwater ecosystem to create a food web. You may need to provide additional information to assist depending on depth of knowledge.
This project allows you to let students show their creativity by writing and illustrating a children's book about the periodic table. Use class time to get a fun test grade or assign as extra credit, I have done both successfully. The research page allows you to check that the students are on the right track before making the project. This also gives you another grading opportunity. There is a rubric for easy grading. To increase rigor, you can add trends of the periodic table making this a

Students will identify the biological levels of organization (organism, population, community, ecosystem, biome, biosphere) and place levels in order from least complex to most.

Experience
I have been a Texas Science teacher since 2012. I have taught 7th and 8th grade science, Middle School AVID, CTE Principles of Health Science in Texas, biology, chemistry, and physics. I have experience teaching inclusion, on-level and honors.
Teaching style
I try to vary my style from short direct notes, to videos, to lab exploration and PBLs. I have peer group lessons and individual practice. I love to incorporate opportunities for the students to show their creativity and knowledge through small and large projects.
