Keeping a classroom and supplies organized can be very difficult. I try to label all folders, tubs, activities, etc so that the students and I know the purpose of every item used in the classroom. I use this on the front cover of students homework folder. I write their name on the line. They are designed to fit Avery labels 48863.
Differentiated Questions:
On Level- multiple choice questions about the story
Challenge- Open ended answer format for same questions
Each level ends with a text to self connection question.
I used this at my listening center and the students knew which team folder to pull their comprehension questions from (on level or challenge). Also great for sub plans as a 15-20 min activity following a reading aloud.

Starting in kindergarten, students begin hearing about going to college . To introduce some of the college vocabulary and ideas, I use these picture cards to get the students engaged and excited about their future college education. I create a college wall where these cards can be found, as well a picture of my students in a cap and gown. On this wall I also track their success: sight words, AR, math, etc.
I add this to students 'sloppy copy' to check before conferencing with me. Starting early in the year, we focus on always checking students own work and each others to help become better writers. I also include checklists at the writing center to encourage the collaborative writing process.
A fun, interactive math game students can play with a partner. Provide 2 different color pencils/markers and 1-2 dice, depending on the students level. Student 1 roles the dice and writes the number down in the first column, student 2 is in charge of looking at the hundreds chart, finding one MORE than the number rolled and writes it down. Student 1 then checks the answer. Student 1 and 2 take turns until the sheet is full. As the students advance, you can give them two dice, one dice for the ten

I rotate between fiction and non-fiction. Each day we complete a passage and use a highligher to 'prove' the answer. There are mulitple choice and open ended questions. Topics include: G. Washington, Lions, Abe Lincoln, carrots, dogs who help people, etc.
This was designed to go with the math games on my page. It is a basic hundreds chart, but I added arrows to help guide students to find one more, one less, ten more and ten less. I use this chart in daily guided instruction and distributive practice review. I also include a copy in students homework folders. Seeing the visual of the arrows, helps them to recognize if a number is increasing/decreasing and by what amount. It's an additional tool to use when teaching what can be a sometimes challen
Based on the first grade math content, I use these to label the math tubs or bags for my math center activities.I also use them in guided math groups to inform students of the learning target/ are we will be focusing on.
Based on California Content Standard- I use learning targets in every introduction and closure of a lesson or guided group.I also post the targets at their learning centers. When students know the focus of their learning, their retention and application of a standard increases dramatically. Especially for students who are learning the English language, breaking down what and why they are learning something helps bring clarity and meaning to their learning. This specific target is for retell. It

Using the 'Farmer and the Dell' rhyme, students can use this graphic organizer to create a sentence with multiple adjectives: The big, black bat flies in the night. Sing it multiple times to build reading and writing success with the sentence. Students love it and are successful at creating a varied type of sentence structure.
These cards are based off of the California Content Standards for first grade reading comprehension 3.1. They are a great tool to use during or after reading. Additionally students love using them during budding reading to assess each others comprehension. They are basic questions of setting, character, beginning, middle, end, plot, etc. I print them on card stock, laminate, cut and put on a ring for easy access to each card.
I use this as a visual display to help students remember the name and function of a part of speech. Each part of speech is color coded and has a way to identify the part of speech ( i.e. nouns are underlined in blue, verbs have a squiggly line in green, etc.). All activities incorporating parts of speech use the color coding and identifying symbols. Having the visual in the classroom, helps students remember and distinguish between each part of speech.
I use this as a word family center sort ( with 2 word families) each week. I then put the familiar cards into a box so students can continue to practice the word families throughout the trimester and/or year.
There are 5 cards per word family.
