To hold students accountable for their AR quizzes, I have students document the title and score they received. When they fill up a sheet, I send it home with a book mark or special prize to reward their hard work in reading. If they score below a 80% I also delete the quiz, have the student reread the book and retake the quiz.
In addition to students academic goals, social goals are excellent to teach children in order to establish a respectful, friendly classroom environment.

Setting goals and tracking the progress is important for students to take ownership and responsibility of their learning and sucess. Each trimester, my class sets an AR reading goal, which I meet with them about every 3 weeks. Once writing their goal, they place this on the outsider of their AR reading log folder. I track each students progress to their goal or our class AR goal.
Some students need additional sensory breaks to remain focused and follow the routines and procedures of the classroom. I use this wheel for students who need an additional movement break. (Sometimes it can be an added as an accommodation to SST's or IEP's). I call it 'boot camp' and show the whole class each movement so they are familiar and can sometimes join a student in the movements.
