Greek Alphabet Bingo Cards (uppercase)

A set of 19 different bingo cards with an uppercase letter of the Greek alphabet in each square. The teacher calls out a random letter of the Greek alphabet, and students place a token on that letter if they have it. (A great source of tokens is that surplus of European coins that are no good because of the Euro.) I recommend laminating the bingo cards as well.

A Collection of Sports Case Studies for Discussion and Debate

The Dylan Fosnacht case (2014, WA) was the genesis of the Sports Case Studies book. He pitched 194 pitches in a high school playoff game, too many pitches by most metrics, and the story made national news. But then more details emerged that proved that the decision-making behind those 194 pitches was more nuanced than had been originally reported. I had been teaching a high school sports-themed English class and it occurred to me that such cases, those that seem controversially straightforward

Latin Ablatives Flow Chart for Identifying Ablative Uses

So many ablatives to keep track of! So many overlapping characteristics! If only there were a process! Now there is. Use this flow chart to make concrete the necessary analysis for identifying ablatives. Divided between those with prepositions and those without, the flow chart takes users through a series of questions or clues that identify ablatives. It of course is not comprehensive nor foolproof (nor is it intended to be) but gives users a basic framework and process for working with ablative

Milton's Paradise Lost Bks 1 and 2 and The Dark Knight Comparison Responses

Seven possible comparison responses for watching Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight as well as a 4-level, 5-category grading rubric. Nolan's The Dark Knight's Joker (especially) makes for a compelling comparison with Milton's Satan; the movie is PG-13, so appropriate for high school viewing. The at least psuedo-dystopian nature of Gotham, however, can be analyzed in the context of Milton's hell and Batman himself is hardly a traditional hero.
