After reading about Sam Gribley's adventures in the Catskills, I created this project for my 4th and 5th graders. Students will create a survival guide for the Catskill mountains, including animals, plants, things to pack, tips, etc. My students had a blast doing this digitally, but it could also be done as a booklet or poster!

After reading "The Green Book" by Jill Paton Walsh, students are assigned the task of creating a poster to attract visitors to Planet Shine. Rubric included.

Students will research Native American tribes of their choice. Includes a rubric that can be printed, given to students, used to check off information as they complete sections, and graded - all on one sheet! My students LOVED this project. Have students create posters, brochures, written reports, or whatever you like!

Use this as a culminating project or a beginning project for an Ecosystem unit. We did this in partners, but some students chose to do it independently. Students created PowerPoint presentations or Google Slide shows, but can easily be adapted to create a poster or written report.

Includes a note taking/outline for students to research Native American tribes of their choice. From the outline you can decide how you want students to display information - a poster/written report/diorama/digital slide show/brochure/etc. My students liked that they had a space to take organized notes and that they did not need to research every fact.

As a culminating project for this novel study, students will select a location from the novel and research to create a travel brochure.

Students will create their dream home blue print, on graph/grid paper. Students then must calculate the area and the perimeter of each room. Students can decorate and elaborate each room to make their house inviting. Students must write a paragraph explaining details about their home as well. Can be modified to only require area OR perimeter. Includes example written description and chart of calculated measurements.

Your students will LOVE researching a country and selecting topics from the choice board. Have students select a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to determine what to research. Students will be more engaged because they get to select what to research! Can be modified to require students to research more/less. Students can work in partners or groups, and may need more support the younger the grade level.

Extension activities for early finishers or students who have mastered content. My students loved making their own schedules and the "real life" aspect of some of the choices. It is up to the the teacher to determine how many boxes students need to complete or if they must complete a row vertically, diagonally, horizontally, etc.

Use this choice board for early finishers, enrichment centers, or even small group instruction. My students loved the choice aspect and the opportunity to be creative. Teachers pick how many activities students must complete, and if they have to be in a row, column, or diagonal.

Have your students showcase their knowledge of geometry in this fun project! Students are required to use the rubric to design their own city map, using shapes and lines in their city. Requirements are color coded for easy assessment. Students self check requirements before teacher grades. My students had a BLAST doing this!

This resource includes a rubric for students to use when researching a president. Can be modified to include more or less, depending on your students and the grade level you work with. My students worked in pairs, and they chose to create posters or brochures. They loved this project!

This activity is great for third graders who are exploring multiplication and repeated addition, or those who have mastered multiplication and need an extra challenge.
