Engaging sound webquest in which students are directed to sites and asked to interact with the site then answer questions. Topics include pitch, reflection, absorption, energy, speed of sound, and how temperature affects sound. Totally self directed and easy to follow. I try to use as little paper as possible so there's no fancy clip art at top, just valuable and concise learning

This is a focused assessment perfect for most state standards. It focused on rotation and revolution and the effects of those movements. It also emphasizes Earth's place in our Solar System. Brief generalizations about the inner and outer planets are also assessed. It requires students to apply their knowledge to situations. Great as a review before the state tests or as an assessment within the Earth, Moon and Sun unit.

Fill in the blank and extended response assessment. Students are required to both infer and apply their knowledge of the reflection and absorption of light energy. Scientific process standards are also addressed.
I love the book Because of Mr. Terrupt. I also have an ongoing poster of dollar words that kids add to as they discover them. However, I feel it's too difficult for them to find them without hints. These are 4 separate half sheets of Dollar Words. Each sheet has ten word on them. The beginning letter and a small hint is provided. I give out one per week and students work on them with extra time. They love it. Simple, fun, ongoing activity to supplement the book. Complete with answer key
It's sometimes difficult to find hands on lab experiments to go along with an ecosystems and food webs unit. Through the scientific process, students will observe the affects of sugar water, salt water and vinegar water on plant growth. You can choose to set it up as one observation in front of class or allow small groups to have a set of 4 plants. I usually use simple grass seed or a bean sprout. At the end of the experiment, students will explain the effects of plant elimination within a f

I've always struggled with "at home science experiments". This activity breaks it down into an easy to follow form for both parents and students. After modeling in class with simple experiments, I allow the students to try. I suggest approving each student's idea with you before giving the go ahead. I assign one of these each quarter and the kids really look forward to them. It's a great way to fit in the science inquiry and investigations standards. Comes with easy to use, quick scoring ru
