High school level questions to go along with Paris to Pittsburgh, a documentary from National Geographic surrounding climate change current events and renewable energy. The documentary came out in 2018. There are 2 follow up questions at the end that require some deeper thinking from students after the video.
These questions go along with the documentary The Kingdom - How Fungi Made Our World which is found online or via Curiosity Stream. You must have access to the documentary to use this assignment. The film covers evolutionary history and fungi's important role in life on Earth. I show it in my high school level Biology course. Answer Key is included. There are 26 total questions; 25 during the video and one follow up question for the end. I do not own the rights to this documentary or the imag
These notes are designed to follow along with the Amoeba Sisters video for the Cell Cycle and Cancer. Answer key is included. I use this with high school Biology students.
This digital assignment has students drag and drop text box items to their correct location on the venn diagram to compare and contrast Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Great for a quick check for understanding or Quiz. When assigning digitally to students, note that I have added the Answer Key as the second slide. You will want to Copy the 1st Slide into a new Google Slide and assign only that so that students do not see the Answer Key!
This assignment pairs with the RadioLab podcast; specifically the Smarty Plants episode and is appropriate for middle or high school level science students.
Google slides activity where students are given images of cells in the cell cycle to label with the correct phase by typing into a pre-placed text box on the slide. Interphase / Prophase / Metaphase / Anaphase / Telophase / Cytokinesis Includes a link to my video which teaches students how to add a text box in the assignment if they are struggling.
High school level questions to go along with the Netflix documentary Kiss the Ground which discusses solutions to climate change and the ideas behind Drawdown by Paul Hawken.
There is an option to use the blank table or a table with a few answers filled in (great for mods). This is something I created for my Biology classes as a "pop-assignment" after teaching the 4 macromolecules / organic compounds. It could also be used as a Quiz or a Graphic Organizer for students to add to their notes. When used as an assessment, this gives a quick and easy way to see if students grasp the basics of biomolecules.
Assignment or quiz for high school physical science. Students are given an example scenario and then have an opportunity to demonstrate ability to calculate velocity, acceleration, force, energy, work, and power surrounding the given scenario.
Visual aid graphic organizer for use in high school biology. Covers the 6 phases of the Cell Cycle, includes their abbreviations, and the major events during Interphase stages. Great form of notes as students are introduced to the concept.
I use this as a form of notes, for my visual learners, we complete the table with the corresponding colors for the indicators. This could easily be used as a Quiz on the Lab Tests used to identify biomolecules in solution.
Google Doc assignment with Punnett Squares your kids can type into easily as they're already formatted! Includes an example problem to start with some scaffolding. Covers mendelian inheritance, codominance, incomplete dominance, sex-linked, blood types, and has a bonus problem. 7 problems in total!
High school biology level NGSS aligned formative assessment or assignment to go along with your instruction of energy pyramids and ecological trophic levels.
I created this venn diagram as a way to teach students the basic characteristics of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. I have students fill out a blank diagram as I display mine on the board and go over the material. For visual learners, I suggest students choose 3 different color pencils for the 3 different spaces in the diagram (prokaryotic / all / eukaryotic).
Stem Cells, Muscle Cells, Nerve Cells, Blood Cells, Sperm Cells - pictures and detailed notes on each slide for High School Biology students to learn various types of specialized cells and their function.
This is an assignment on google slides where students have a concept map for cellular transport / homeostasis and they're given a word bank to fill in the concept map blanks. The students type in the text box to fill in the concept map. The word bank can be removed for more rigor or for a quiz. When assigning digitally to students, note that I have added the Answer Key as the second slide. You will want to Copy the 1st Slide into a new Google Slide and assign only that so that students do not s
This is a visual aid using a slide analogy for passive and active cell transport. This works well when differentiating learning and providing visuals for the cellular transport processes of Homeostasis. This is something I pass out to all students, allow their choice of color pencils for visual learners, and have them complete and then keep in their binder (works with interactive notebooks as well)!
Video questions about the episode, aligned for high school Biology students and any science course in general. 13 video questions and 3 pre-video definitions.
PowerPoint with high-school level information on cellular organelles.
