About the store
I've worked in a variety of settings at a variety of grade levels. I started my career in preschool, where I worked for six years. I also taught 5th grade in an upper-middle class suburban community as well as an urban charter school that served a Muslim population. Since then, I have been in my current district, Ann Arbor. Here I taught 1st grade and 4th grade for 14 years before transitioning into a math coach position.
For 7 years, I also worked for The Princeton Review, a test preparation company. For The Princeton Review, I taught and tutored for the ACT, SAT, GMAT, GRE, and MCAT verbal tests. I trained prospective teachers for the ACT and GMAT. I also wrote content for their ACT, Early Edge, and GMAT materials.

Word Webs - A Word Study Resource
This is a 2 page PDF document of word webs. Word webs are a way for students to learn the meaning of prefixes, suffixes, and roots. Students are given the word part and are charged with the job of finding three words that contain that word part. Students must then define each of the words and use these definitions to try to determine the meaning of the word part. This is a more memorable way for students to learn word parts than memorizing a list of prefixes, suffixes, and roots.

Teaching style
My focus is on small-group instruction with flexible groupings based on data. I try to incorporate authentic learning experiences and inquiry-based investigations.
My own education history
I attended undergraduate and graduate school at Michigan State University. My graduate degree is in Teaching and Curriculum with a concentration in instructional technology.
I have been through Math Recovery training for: AVMR 1, AVMR 2, Fractions, MRSp1 (Math Recovery Specialist 1).
