About the store
I have been working as a math coach and consultant for Math Solutions, a group started by Marilyn Burns (my hero!). Before that, I taught 1st, 2nd 4th, 5th, and 6th grades over the course of 12 years. My classroom was fun and engaging... a safe and happy space for kids to learn and share. I am especially passionate about elementary math. Over the years, I have collected and conducted research, and I currently provide professional development workshops and coaching for teachers. I work hard to ensure that all my students feel confident and happy at school.

STEAM Tile Design Activity with Pattern Blocks
In this hands-on STEAM activity, students are tile pattern designers, creating a design for their client, Mr. Buzz. To draft their work, they will be using pattern blocks. Like any tile art designer, they'll need to stay within budget, know the area they are covering with tiles, and create a visually pleasing design. Teaching style
My approach to elementary math is hands-on, concept-based learning. Kids should create their own understanding of math concepts through exploration with manipulatives, drawings, and discussion. I believe that ALL students are mathematicians.
