Students can do this activity on a white board, on a paper, or type their answer right on the slides. Teachers could also print and hang up around the room for students to solve. Make it fun by editing the names in the story problems to be people you know around your school. Questions directly align to questions they will see on the test.
Hang these editable questions around the room for students to review concepts in topic 2. There are two sets of 12 questions. Topic 2 includes story problems related to comparing decimals, estimating decimals, adding decimals, and subtracting decimals.
Use these decimal notes to help students have a reference when working with decimal operations. There are parts of the notes that are interactive, you can have students complete with you when you pass the notes out. Editable in Google Docs if you want to change wording to fit your teaching style.
Use the saying "Can't Stop Solving Cases" and calling the students "investigators" to get students excited about solving math word / story problems. At times students can be lost on where to begin when solving story problems, this can be used as a way to teach a strategy for processing word / story problems.
Two Digit by Two Digit Multiplication Around the Room Riddle Activity (editable) Each student will get the riddle sheet that also has space to show work. Tape the problems up around the room. Students will solve and match the letter above the problem with the answer on the riddle sheet. Gets students up and moving while practicing!
Use this assignment to have students write their own story problems according to an algebraic equation. Students can solve the problem as well. There are 12 total that equations range from easy to hard.
Use this product as practice or an intervention for students to work on their multiplication facts. Use as a whole class, small group, or 1:1. The product has practice for 1 - 12. However, you download as Google slides so you are able to edit as you wish to include 0 or numbers higher than 12. The first page of a number is a quiz. The second and third page of a number are printed front to back for the student to practice if they do not pass the quiz. The practice includes making arrays and
There are a total of 18 missing addend story problems. The first 6 have the sign they need to make the number sentence that matches the story problem. The following 12 have the number sentence set up but with no mathematical sign, students have to write the sign themselves.
Use this review to get progress monitoring data on student's knowledge of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. This worksheet has a total of 10 problems. It includes mixed problems of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems and word problems. On this assignment I did not let my students calculator, however sometimes on the back I would have them estimate to check for reasonableness of their answer.
Use this review to get progress monitoring data on student's knowledge of decimals. This worksheet has a total of 10 problems. It includes mixed problems of decimals and fractions. On this assignment I let my students use a calculator to use the strategy of converting fractions to decimals to solve problems.
Split the class into four groups (or if you edit this document and make more questions you will have more groups). Give each group the same data sheet / same question. Have the group practice asking their question to each other and recording the data. Then explain that everyone in the class will walk around, ask their question to the other people in class that they haven't asked yet and record the data. Once everyone has their data the groups will get back together and work on finding the me
Print this on legal sized paper, laminate, and use a dry erase or wet erase marker to work on the number of the day with students during calendar time.
Each time my students take a math test I staple their notes and work to the test and this slip and send home for parents to skim, sign, and send back. This way parents are not only aware of the child's grade but also the notes and work the student has done to prepare for the test. Then I keep for my own records in case when parent teacher conferences roll around we need to discuss more about a student. Just add to your drive, change the wording, and print (on bright colored paper to grab atte
