I used this for an assignment during my Grade 5 First Nations & Europeans unit. This was a way to have students make connections to First Nations culture by creating a totem pole, connecting to animals and the values they hold. Make sure to use resources created my Indigenous artists, writers and creators to show students what the animals represent. Here is an example of a resource: https://michaelbellis.com/symbolism/ Rubric provided.
This is a great writing prompt for the primary grades. After reading "How to Catch the Easter Bunny", your students can answer these creative thinking writing responses.

Here is a seasonal Math and Art activity to tie in spatial sense. Students can draw a village and provide coordinates for the different drawings (house, community centre, tree, etc. whatever they draw). Then they can provide directions from place to place (e.g. go north 2 squares, east 4 squares). This give the artistic students an opportunity to shine in math. Includes checklists/success criteria for assessment.
Download these labels to organize your classroom bins. Worked for me! This is a free resource so no one can complain about how much of a mess they are thrown in together (not really in an order that makes sense and doubles throughout). Also not an editable resource :) Labels Includes: -craft supplies -class materials -math manipulatives -teacher supplies -miscellaneous labels Enjoy.
