This is a great FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL writing activity. Read the wonderful book called "Your Name is a Song" by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow and have your students answer some questions about their names in this graphic organizer. They will then write in full sentences on the back.

I used this for an assignment during my Grade 5 First Nations & Europeans unit. This was a way to have students make connections to First Nations culture by creating a totem pole, connecting to animals and the values they hold.
