Teaching style

Hi, my name is Lizzie. I teach in a school with a limited budget, many children in a small classroom and no assistent. I found, when doing daily mental math, many children are not attentive because they know there is only a 1:38 chance that they will be asked to answer the question. With these speed tests, EVERY learner has to answer EVERY question. Answers are read out by the teacher and displayed on screen. Learners mark each others' tests. (If there is not enough money for photocopies, sums can be read out aloud by the teacher). Marks are recorded on a spreadsheet that works out an average mark. This works extremely well in our situation and learners' marks have improved dramatically!
