About the store

Experience

I have two years experience teaching math at a Catholic school in the Bronx. With the birth of my son, I needed a part-time job and now I am starting my fourth year working as a substitute. I have worked in Yonkers and am now working in New York City. I have worked in Queens, Harlem, and all over New York City with students of all different backgrounds

Teaching style

My main goal in teaching, is to get students involved. I give a clear and entertaining presentation of the topic, get a discussion going, and finally, have students work on practice problems and check their understanding. I give students something to do from the moment they walk into the classroom until the bell rings at the end. I care very much about keeping students focused on learning and providing students with a very safe and orderly place to work. As a short, chubby, woman with a very high-pitched voice I don’t have a very commanding presence. As a substitute, I can’t use the threat of a bad grade either, unless I am working as a long-term sub. My lesson plans need to do the discipline for me.
