Do your students struggle with writing equations from word problems? Using these "cheat sheets", students will have step-by-step help for each type of equation. Cut out and paste these to a piece of cardstock or construction paper, then have students write all of the words that mean add/subtract/multiply/divide inside. They then have a safety blanket to use when tackling these kinds of questions. My grade 7's found it very helpful and I noticed their understanding vastly improved.

Students will choose events that took place in their lives before they were born and afterwards and place these on a number line. Zero will represent when they were born. My students loved learning about each other and sharing baby pictures.

These simple, yet invaluable cards can be printed and distributed on the first day of school to allow students to disclose their pronouns to you in a comfortable, private way. Simply print on cardstock, cut down the middle (2 per page), and hand out. Feedback from students has been positive and appreciative.
