Students have covered and have an understanding of capacity (liters and mililiters). This is a hand on lesson where students will be assigned to different stations around their classroom. Each station will have different jars of items to measure (water, sand, salt, dirt, etc.). Each jar will be labeled A,B,C,D, etc. Each station will have a measuring beaker (L,mL). Students are to ESTIMATE how many L or mL there is in each jar. Then they must MEASURE each jarred item with the beaker. Students

This is a culminating assessment for the end of the grade 3 Measurement Unit. Students must work with adding, subtracting, elapsed time, temperature, capacity, mass, and word problems.

Students have had practice estimating objects of different sizes and quantities along with counting Canadian coins. This quiz will require jars of different items and they will be presented to the students. They are to estimate and then record the actual amount. Students will also need to count Canadian coins and write the correct number in cents
