This Teaching Model covers the topic of Ecological Succession. It asks the student to visit a farm field that has been taken out of production or empty lot and determine its current state of succession. The lesson consists of teacher information and a student worksheet with diagrams plus Task Cards. It is a great activity if your school is near an empty lot and you want to go outdoor for a lesson. With this Teaching Model your Elementary students will be going on an “object hunt” to find objects they think are interesting. It is an out of doors object hunt that can help children develop the ability to observe carefully, describe accurately compare and classify objects.

This lesson is ideal for introducing your students to the concept of alternate energy sources and how energy can be stored.
