This is 16 analogy pairs.I would print these on card stock and laminate to keep them nice for the future.I did this activity by giving each student half an analogy, and then then had to find their partner quietly.You could also do this by giving each group all of the pairs and having them match all of the analogies. (If you do this, I would recommend that you number the backs or print on different colored paper so that the sets do not get mixed up.)

Experience

I have taught for 13 years at a variety of schools from urban to suburban to rural, from private to public. I have taught language arts, etymology, writing, reading, and English. I have students of various ability levels, including general education, honors, college prep, Pre-AP, English Language Learners, and inclusion. I have led professional development at both the school and district levels.

Teaching style

I use media and common interests to hep make content relatable and applicable. I use Kagan strategies as well as active learning strategies. I use a lot of visual examples and group work to understand concepts.

I have been written about in educational books. I have written and published three books of my own. I am a teacher consultant of the National Writing Project. I have been part of the school improvement team, been a team leader, and have led professional development at both the school and district levels.

I am a wife, mother, author, teacher, and mentor. I have also done youth ministry, both as a pastor and a volunteer. I have coached multiple sports as well.
