I have taught for 13 years at a variety of schools from urban to suburban to rural, from private to public. I have taught language arts, etymology, writing, reading, and English. I have students of various ability levels, including general education, honors, college prep, Pre-AP, English Language Learners, and inclusion. They can make it funny, creative, etc. Then, on the back side of the story, they will write the real meaning of the idiom as well as use it in a sentence. It includes an example and a scoring guide. Teaching style

I use media and common interests to hep make content relatable and applicable. I use Kagan strategies as well as active learning strategies. I use a lot of visual examples and group work to understand concepts.

I have been written about in educational books. I have written and published three books of my own. I am a teacher consultant of the National Writing Project. I have been part of the school improvement team, been a team leader, and have led professional development at both the school and district levels.
