The file includes 8 task cards that each have short poems. Students can read each short poem and infer the topic on the answer cards. An answer key is also provided.
This 12 page resource has 4 activities for teaching abbreviations.
One resource is a matching game with 18 different abbreviations. Group up your students, give them the abbreviation cards, and have them find the matching full word cards. You can put the full word cards in baggies around the room for them to find and drop their card in, or you can laminate them and add velcro buttons!
There is also a matching page where students match the abbreviations to the full words. This could be a good

Ideally, you could mark the incorrect ones and have a reflection with your students on goals. The Google Form option is also available- it is set up as a quiz with the an

Quick, fun activity. Students get to shoot some hoops (or shoot paper balls into the trashcan if you don't have access to a court), and use their results to calculate fractions, decimals, ratios, percents, mean, median, and mode. It is a powerpoint file, so you can edit if needed! The first round, they all make 10 shots from the same spot. The next round they get to choose one factor to change (distance from goal, height of goal, angle to goal, etc.) and make 5 shots with their new orientation.

The idea is for them to understand their score with the different reporting categories. If you don't want them to record the percentages, or you want to add something, an editable link is included. My favorite thing to do is have them record the data from the practice testing platform, then use highlighter
