Adding Money Holiday Wish Book
This Essential Supplemental is always a favorite math activity before Christmas. Students who don't celebrate Christmas have an alternate cover that simply says "My Wish Book" that can be used for any holiday celebrated in which presents are given. Students cut out items they wish for and glue them down in their wish book. I send home a letter in early November asking for holiday catalogs. I also allow students to find and print items online. I have been teaching in a suburban public school district for 18 years. I taught 3rd grade for 15 years and am currently teaching 3rd grade. I taught 5th grade for a total of 3 years.
Teaching style
My primary goal is for students to enjoy coming to school. If kids arent' in the right frame of mind or don't feel like they are in a safe and positive environment, they will have trouble engaging in the classroom. I remember not wanting to go to school at times when I was growing up. I don't want my students to ever feel like that. From the start of the year, I foster a safe and positive learning environment through activities, sharing, and modeling of citizenship. I am always looking for new and creative ways to engage my students. That's why I love shopping on TPT. There are a lot of great ideas to be shared! In the classroom, I believe it is important to balance fundamental skills with workshop.
My own education history
I earned my undergraduate degree from Marquette University with a double major in English Literature and Communications and Rhetorical Studies. I earned my teaching certification from Cardinal Stritch University. I also earned my Master's Degree in Professional Development from Cardinal Stritch University.
Additional biographical information
I am married and have a son in middle school. The other two members of my family are my Lab/Cattle dog mix named Chase and my Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix, Daisy.
