About the store
Ruth: I have been teaching at the elementary level since 2008. I have taught in Delaware and Kentucky. My experience in the classroom has been incredible and I have found some tricks to help me along the way. I have taught all grades and subjects from kindergarten to fifth grade. In Delaware, I held a dual certification and was blessed to teach students from all abilities. I currently teach fifth grade math and absolutely love being able to focus on one subject area. Katlyne: After working in the accounting field and as a Family Resource Coordinator, I switch careers and have have been working with elementary Special Education kiddos for 5 years and absolutely love it! Having the ability to work across grade levels has shown me the importance of knowing grade level standards and using those standards to drive instruction & gauge student needs. I love finding ways to use my background in accounting and computers to create new and exciting ways to engage student learning!

KSA 5th Grade Math Study Guide

This study guide includes 1 question for each standard for fifth grade math. Students may self-assess how they feel about the standard, using the self-assess boxes and then solve the problem. This study guide goes great with the standards base tracker board. I give it to my students at the end of the year to as a review before taking the state assessments. This document is editable and can be changed from Kentucky Academic Standards to the Common Core Standards if you choose.

Teaching style

Ruth & Katlyne Our teaching styles vary depending on the standard and students. Our mission is to create an environment where ultimately the students are invested in their own learning. We believe the students all students can learn the standards and should be able to self-reflect on their level of understanding for each standard. Once students know their weaknesses we can work on eliminating them together.

My own education history

Ruth I attended Wilmington University in Delaware for my Undergrad in Elementary K-6. I also received my Graduate degree in Educational Technology from Wilmington University. I will begin the long journey to achieving my Doctorate this coming Fall. Katlyne I graduated from University of the Cumberlands with an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business Admin., and Mgmt. Information Systems. I later returned to the Cumberlands to gain a Masters in Special Education LBD P-12 and a Rank 1 in Supervisor of Instruction.
