This activity is a great way to apply decimal skills to real life. Students will manage a budget and write checks to pay their bills. There is also a group activity at the end that allows them to experience real situations (doctor bills, eating out, etc.). My students LOVE this activity!
This lab allows students to practice fraction skills while creating a trail mix based on their results. Students work individually, in pairs or in groups to come up with the amount of each ingredient needed by solving fraction problems. They then get to enjoy eating their mix while answering reflection questions. A materials list is included, and all items are peanut free. This is one of my class's favorite activities every year!

This activity is a perfect way to check for understanding as you teach graphing to your students! Students compose a frequency table, bar graph, stem and leaf plot, line plot, and find the measures of central tendency while using candy. They also analyze the data once they have calculated it. Can be used as a review activity, formative assessment or just for a fun day in math class!

Students LOVE this activity, and it is a fantastic way to assess their understanding of creating and analyzing data. They will gather their own data and create a frequency table, bar graph, circle graph and data analysis based on their results. This is a perfect way to wrap up a graphing unit and check for understanding at the same time!
Students are required to create a figure on the coordinate plane and provide the coordinates used. They also include an explanation about the coordinate plane. This is great for enriching students with an application activity, and they LOVE working one another's to create figures! Rubric included.
