I am in my ninth year of teaching. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grades! I am a Tennessee girl that just moved to Arkansas! New state, new school!
I used this as an assessment after we studied multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100, or 1,000. I wanted a sheet that incorporated both, so that the students had to think about moving the decimal to the left or the right. (I didn't like that the workbook pages with the series were either all multiplying or all dividing... they just did the entire sheet the same way.)
This product includes an Answer Key.
This product can be used with the EnVision Math Series for 5th grade (Topic 7 Lessons
This is a fun "Get to Know Your Teacher" activity! Simply cut the headings that you would like to use, glue to poster board and add sticky notes with math problems for your students to solve. This could be used in any grade level, as the math complexity is totally up to you!
The students could also make one about themselves during the first week of school!
I love seeing students work toward a skill at their own level and pace. Differentiation is key to reaching all learners and I absolutely love how this approach is working in my classroom this year. I quickly get to assess, reteach, challenge, document, and direct learning paths for each student in my room. HOW???
We discuss the topic whole group and I show a couple of examples. Then we do a few practice problems whole group. This gives me a good idea of prior knowledge and how quickly they are
This is a fun activity to use in the Fall with candy corn candies! The students can use the candies to show if the numbers are greater than or less than. I had my students use 5 pieces of candy, then they got to eat them. They used their pencil to write the symbols, and turned the assignment in for a grade. The kids had a lot of fun with this activity!
Quick 10 question assessment covering adding and subtracting whole numbers and decimals.
Made to go along with EnVision Math, Grade 5, Topic 2 Lessons 5-7, but these skills are covered in every curriculum!
Upper grades can do crafts, too!!! This turkey craft can be differentiated depending on the grade level and the ability level of the students. There are 3-digit numbers, 4-digit numbers, 5-digit numbers, and a blank box for you to write in your own numbers. I also included a page of Santa hats so that your Thanksgiving craft can stay in the hallway and be used as a Christmas craft! :-)
I purposely didn't add directions so that you could tweak it for your classroom needs. (Ex: color the feather
UPDATED- Includes 4 weeks!
Warm-ups are pivotal in my math class! For starters, my students need structure and this routine helps to start class on the right foot. They know what to do, how to do it, and it helps their brains to start thinking mathematically. During this time, I walk around and check homework! We check it and do a quick discussion together. The whole process only takes about 5 minutes once students get into the routine.

Teaching style
I love making learning fun. I incorporate games and active learning styles as much as I can. If students have fun while learning, they will retain and apply what they learn as opposed to simply giving answers.
