All About ... Book Template

This product is a simple and great way to do research or fiction writing in the classroom. It contains templates to write an informational text with text features or blank templates to create whatever type of book you wish (personal narrative, fictional writing, realistic fiction, poetry, etc.) I am personally using the book for my students to become "specialist" or "experts" on a non-fiction topic that they have passion for. They are going to do research and then combine their new found inform

Guided Reading Strategies Rubrics CCSS Grades 1-5

With help from the Sister’s CAFÉ system, these are reading strategies put into rubric format to take the guess work out of tracking progress and internalize student learning. This unit includes all of the comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary strategies that children need to be successful readers. I made these rubrics in order to visually track my students’ progress not only in whole group, but in small groups as well. These rubrics are in kid friendly language, correspon

Weather War! True or False Fact Game

• This is a perfect game for students to cooperatively work with each other and build or practice their knowledge about weather. All you have to do is print, laminate and cut! • I personally put this game at my Science center which the children know they can use during Daily 5 time at Read to Someone. • The game includes an answer key and a blank set of cards if you want to write your own personal questions. • I usually say only 2-3 kids get to play per game and I tell them the cards are poi

Thus I made this document so after learning the different types of text features my students could create something of their own. 1. You can use this as a class book where pairs or groups of children come together to complete a page and create their own text feature. 2. You could have each child create their own book and examples of these text features. 3. You co

Heartbreak Warfare Sight Word Game

• This is a perfect game for students to cooperatively work with each other and build their sight word fluency. All you have to do is print, laminate and cut! • I personally put this game at my Word Work center in Daily 5. I also put my game in a cute little container for easy clean up. • The rules are easy for them to read and understand. I usually say only 2-4 kids get to play per game and I tell them the cards are points so whoever has the most cards/points at the end wins. (This gets my sp

About the store

Experience

I have taught kindergarten and first grade for 3 years now and loving it!!!!!!! My first graders are high achieving first graders, thus I sometimes have to tap into the 2nd grade curriculum to challenge them.

Teaching style

I would describe my teaching style as energetic and young-at-heart. My motto is if you are having fun then they are having fun. My goal in teaching is to create life-long learners by intertwining all subjects together, rather than making good readers or mathematicians.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Both degrees received with magna cum laude status.

My own education history

I received my bachelors in Special Education from the University of Florida and I received my masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of Florida.

Additional biographical information

My favorite children's book author is Mo Willems. In my spare time, I love to read books, shop, watch movies, go to DIsney, watch the Gators play, and paint.
