This worksheet has a description of dimensional analysis and steps that can be used to solve the question. An example problem that shows how to use the steps is provided prior to the 20 questions of the worksheet. The questions involve the use of basic dimensional analysis questions including density and speed information. The questions also use real world examples (such as basketball court dimensions) to provide information that the students can then use to solve problems.

This empirical formula review sheet includes 10 practice questions along with the steps to work the questions. An answer key is included. Some of the questions include the use of multipliers when the original work does not lead to simple solutions.

This power point shows the steps used to determine the empirical formula for a compound, and it shows the steps with worked out examples. Each slide presents a different step and how the math would work to determine the empirical formula. One example is straightforward and ends with the ratio being the lowest whole number ratio. The second example ends with the need to adjust the calculated ratio based upon the use of multipliers.

In this activity designed for the SmartBoard, students are given various measurements and they must drag them into the correct box to identify the number of significant figures that are in the measurement. If they are correct, the number will disappear. If they are incorrect, the number will revert to the original location for a later attempt.
