About the store

Experience

I LOVE teaching first graders! They love to learn and have fun, and their progress from September to June is HUGE! It always amazes me how far they come!

Teaching style

I believe in the value of kids talking and working through problems together. I love Common Core's focus on showing perseverance in solving problems and also on explaining the thinking behind a solution. I think that kids are the most engaged when they are "doing", so there's a lot of hands-on practice in my room. Looking for quality hands-on activities was actually how I discovered TPT, and I am so glad I did!

Additional biographical information

I am originally from West Michigan but moved to Wisconsin in 2011, where I taught 1st grade for 9 years. In 2020, I took the leap to teaching overseas in the UAE, where I continued teaching 1st grade and then moved into elementary math intervention.
