About the store
Hi, friends! We are Andrew and Jessica. We come from different educational backgrounds and have different styles. Andrew is a 6-12 certified math teacher who has been teaching for 19 years and has taught both at the high school and middle school level. With a bachelors degree in mathematics, Andrew has always had a passion for the subject and loves spreading his excitment for numbers to his (sometimes not as enthusiastic) students. Andrew curently teaches gifted education for middle school students with a focus on accelerated math. Jessica is not a teacher though always thought that maybe she should be. Jessica loves being creative and has a knack for making graphics and designing images. Jessica has a bachelors degree in psychology and biology and a masters of science degree. She currently works in heathcare and is passionate about helping students learn science (especially anatomy) in a way that is fun, memorable, and also makes sense.

When students can connect various ideas around a single topic, the depth and endurance of their understanding grows. In this lesson, students are only given 4 “questions,” but they are asked to create simplified ratios, tables, double number lines, graphs, tape diagrams, ratio equations, and word explanations for each. Key numbers like the unit rate and simplified ratio can then be seen throughout the different representations, linking them together as math beautifully does so often. This lesso
