This activity is structured to assist students in understanding the concept of fact families. Included are color and black line fact family houses, number cards, and materials that can be used to create a file folder game. Also included are lesson plans with suggested activities and uses for the printables.

This game is a perfect way to have your children or students practice their basic addition facts, and encourages students to be flexible with numbers. It is also a fun way to encourage strategic thinking. It aligns perfectly with the Common Core math standard addressing Operations and Algebraic Thinking. This game is kid tested and approved! After teaching this game to math groups, it is perfect to use as an idependent station and can be played over and over, as each game is a new experience.

This center is designed to be made into two file folder games. Both look the same, but one focuses on addition of doubles, and the other focuses on addition of doubles plus one. The game has a Valentine's Day theme, and includes instructions on assembly, and a print out with instructions, a title, and tabs so that the file folder game can be completely assembled.

This activity uses a pepperoni pizza to help students understand the idea of fact families, and simple addition and subtraction facts. The pepperoni slices serve as manipulatives. Also included are suggested lesson plans, and a couple of worksheets designed to extend the activity. This activity can easily be made into a center or file folder game.
