If you are reviewing the "Checks & Branches" of our 3 Branches, this is a fun way to include examples of it in your students interactive notebook. In my PowerPoint, I include the Checks of each branch, however, you could also use your own lessons and add this to your lesson/activity. I designate each branch Rock, Paper, or Scissors. For example; Congress - Legislative Branch (Paper) "L" President - Executive Branch (Scissors) "E" Supreme Court - Judicial Branch (Ro
This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary in the classroom (All subjects). All you need is dice (one per group). I created this game idea and card many years ago to use in my 7th grade civics classes and the kids absolutely love playing it. My co-workers use it in ELA, Science and Foreign language as well. You students will love it.
I generally use this script for small groups. On the activity is a vocabulary bank for the words used in the script. I usually assign 8-10 vocabulary words (used correctly) to be written into the dialogue. It is a fun activity that helps each students review their vocabulary words in my Civics and History classes. It can be edited to add more spaces for vocabulary or change the name on the Film clapper. This is a great tool for reviewing vocabulary.
Hey there! I created this math puzzle after a discussion with some of my Civics students who said they struggled with paying the cashier at the grocery store. I used it as a 5-minute bell ringer but it could definitely be used as an activity for grades 1st-3rd. The puzzle consists of a problem to be read and an accompanying grid with 18 squares. Three squares within the grid already contain coins which must be included in the final payment. The task is to cut out and glue the appropriate change
A fun and different way of playing the classic Bingo game. Change the game up a bit. The kids will love it ! Just need this game card with included instructions and two crayons.
I have been utilizing this method along with vocabulary flashcards for over a decade to help students with their Civics vocabulary, but it can be adapted for any subject that requires vocabulary acquisition. Included is a formal letter for parents and/or guardians outlining their role in their child's education, as well as detailing how homework will be graded. Additionally, there is a take-home slip for students to have signed daily by their parents or guardians after each review session. This
Although I use this in both my Civics and History classes, it is an excellent activity for other subjects as well. First, I have two students text a response to my prompt back and forth. Then both rephrase what each other said in the texts. After that, they both summarize my response/comments to the prompt. This really works well in facilitating a deeper understanding of a particular lesson as well as helping the students to recall important information for the future.
