Hey there! I created this math puzzle after a discussion with some of my Civics students who said they struggled with paying the cashier at the grocery store. I used it as a 5-minute bell ringer but it could definitely be used as an activity for grades 1st-3rd. The puzzle consists of a problem to be read and an accompanying grid with 18 squares. Three squares within the grid already contain coins which must be included in the final payment. The task is to cut out and glue the appropriate change
