Games for Learning

Use this worksheet to help your students dig into what they are reading. By noticing the group plan and thinking about the impact of the setting and other clues in the narrative students can do some higher level thinking about this skill. Close Reading stories is a great way to work on comprehension and perspective taking. This is included in my social smarts worksheets with two other close reading activities.

Three worksheets that use close reading skills to practice social skills. The first is identifying what is expected or unexpected in the reading. The second is finding examples of empathy in the text. The third has students look for the group plan and to judge what it is, who is following it, and why. These can be used with any story or article to practice these skills.
