I love to develop Visual Strategies, which are evidence based interventions, to help children with a variety of disabilities. Sometimes, kids exhibit negative behavior because the work at school is too hard for them. This Social Narrative normalizes the feeling that sometimes school work is hard for everyone and gives the students some ways to get help. A summary is included of the main points from the story at the end to laminate and put on their desk if needed.

On Jan. 23, 2018, there was a school shooting at Marshall Co. High School in Benton, KY. One student seriously injured was a member of a Low Incidence classroom. Naturally, all students were traumatized. I wrote this story and collaborated w the teacher of the Low Incidence classroom (named on the front cover) to develop this resource to assist these students in dealing with subsequent trauma. Experience

This is my 22nd year as a School Psychologist. My professional interests are helping students with ADHD and Autism. I love to develop Visual Strategies, which are evidence based interventions, to help children with a variety of disabilities. I also use a lot of Cognitive-Behavior Techniques in working with students.

Teaching style

I don't teach in the classroom, but I would say my consultation with teachers is behaviorist in nature.

Additional biographical information

I am a wife, mom, step--mom, and a School Psychologist. I love buoy working in my flower garden, running, and going to the beach (or anywhere) with my friends and family. I also am passionate about school mental initiatives. Every student deserves to learn in a physically and psychologically safe environment. I look forward to working teachers, parents and administrators every day to assist students' emotional and academic development.
