This is an Industrial Revolution project where students create a newspaper and an advertisement. Rubrics are included for both the newspaper and the advertisement. Students will need to conduct research in order to complete the project.

Place stickers on the marble bag when students do good deeds or have a good day. When the marble bag is full, let the class have a classroom treat or surprise. This can also be used for individual students who need a behavior plan.

Making Words is a great way to introduce new vocabulary to your students and encourage them to make even more words. Making words would be a great way to start a mini-lesson, give for homework, or put in a literacy center.

This unit on Because of Winn-Dixie integrates math, drama, visual arts, and technology. The unit offers ideas to use along with the reading of the book over a suggested two week period. The ideas can easily be adjusted to any fourth grade class. The ideas are by subject (ELA, Math, Drama, etc.), but do not list day by day suggestions - as day by day is different in every classroom.
