Students learn the basic process of multiplication by matching the multiplication fact with the corresponding repeated addition, picture, array, & product. There are 9 matching sets (45 total cards). **GREAT for cut & paste on visual organizer!
A card game for one or up to 21 players! I call these 21 multiplication facts the "turtle facts" with all the easy zeros, ones, twos, fives, and tens omitted. Only the most difficult to memorize or retrieve quickly are left. If you learn the 9's trick (description included), that leaves only 12 facts!!! If practicing alone, order the cards with their partners until all cards have been used. If practicing in a group, divide the cards between each player. Decide on the starter & have that person b
By matching the "equal group" picture cards, division equation, and quotient, students learn the basic process of division. **As the thumbnail shows, this single page contains 5 matching sets (15 total pieces).
FOUR computation tic-tac-toe games for partners, including addition/subtraction with regrouping, 1 digit by 2-3 digit multiplication, and long division with and without remainders. Computation cards are presented in a variety of ways including vertical/horizontal alignment, within a story problem, and using key vocabulary such as addends, sum, difference, factors, product, dividend, divisor, and quotient.
This game can be played in a number of ways, but my favorite allows partners with similar
By matching the "groups of" picture card, multiplication fact, and product, students learn the basic process of multiplication. There are 5 matching sets (15 total cards).
Designed specifically for 3rd grade curriculum, this is the third of several card sets. Given 6 large answer cards, students match each with 4 computational facts, number sense/mental math questions, or 3rd grade problem-solving skill cards. There are 24 question cards in all. *This set emphasizes mental math multiplication, including vocabulary such as "sets/groups of", "twice as many", "doubled", "array", and calculation with money.
Students use estimation & mental math to multiply 1 x 2 digit equations. There are 7 matching sets (equation, estimated equation, and estimated product).
Designed specifically for 3rd grade curriculum, this is the second of several card sets. Given 6 large answer cards, students match each with 4 computational facts, number sense/mental math problem-solving questions, or 3rd grade skill cards. There are 24 question cards in all. *This set emphasizes addition, subtraction, beginning money skills, beginning multiplication, and vocabulary such as "more/less than", "tripled", "half", & "even/odd".
Introduce a mental math multiplication strategy using this template! Students use their knowledge of expanded form and digit values to multiply larger numbers. This is also a great way to help students understand the multiplication process & not just an algorithm.
Designed specifically for 3rd grade curriculum, this is the fourth of several card sets. Given 6 large answer cards, students match each with 4 computational facts, number sense/mental math questions, or 3rd grade problem-solving skill cards. There are 24 question cards in all. *This set emphasizes mental math multiplication, including vocabulary such as "facts related to" or fact families, "sets/groups of", "pairs", "estimated", and calculation with money.
This long division lesson was originally paired with the chapter book study, Funny Frank by Dick King-Smith. It can be also used in isolation. Just copy the story book front & back for each student, then fold.
Given the activating question of how many eggs can a hen lay within a year, students use this number to divide between 2, and then 3 people. Of course, students can use their knowledge of digit values, base ten manipulates, or algorithm to help them solve the problem.
DIRECTIONS:

Place base-ten manipulatives according to the directions into 6 bags and give each student a recording booklet.
Model division strategies (equal sharing, base-10 exchange, tally marks, multiplication). Have groups rotate bags every 10 min.'s to complete the information for each.
* Students requiring additional supports can be provided with calculators, multiplication charts, &/or allow completion of only bags A, C, & D.
* Teacher answer sheet included!
