I have broken down the steps on how to calculate mean in a grade 3 class by choosing numbers that are easily added and divided by a low number. Before you teach mean, it's important that your students have a solid foundation with multiplication and division (fact families).

I created this activity to help my students understand how to represent numbers in different ways. In this Google slide, I go over Place Value, Numeral/Standard form, Number words, Expanded form with numbers and expanded form with words.
