Students will create their own piece of abstract art by writing and solving equations! Great idea for a STEAM activity. Adjustable for many levels! Students will create (or be given) a set of linear equations. They will use the equations to plug in values for the variable, create a table, graph each point on the coordinate plane, draw the line, and create a colorful piece of abstract art. Tile all art pieces together for a large, class-size art mural. A fan-favorite of my 6th graders!
