Accuracy & Precision Data Analysis & Graphing Activity; HS Science; 9th - 12th

Accuracy & Precision Data Analysis & Graphing Activity Bring accuracy and precision to life with this engaging, real-world chemistry activity! Students step into the role of quality control scientists at a soda company, analyzing real data from three different machines to determine which one is the most reliable. Along the way, they calculate mean, range, and percent error, design graphs, and practice error analysis—all while applying NGSS-aligned science and math skills. This hands-on data anal

Accuracy & Precision Lab; Collaboration; Hands On; HS Science; 10th - 12th Grade

Bring measurement skills to life with this engaging Accuracy and Precision Lab! Students explore the difference between accuracy (closeness to the true value) and precision (consistency of repeated measurements) through two hands-on investigations: estimating and measuring line lengths, and testing various lab glassware for volume accuracy. Teachers love this lab because it requires minimal prep, uses common classroom materials, and provides built-in practice for error analysis, a skill cent

Graphing Introduction; Data Collection & Analysis; Scatter, Bar, Pie; MS & HS

Bring data to life with this hands-on, three-part Introduction to Graphing Lab! Students will practice collecting data, organizing it into tables, and deciding which type of graph—bar, line, or pie—is best suited for their results. Through fun, tactile activities like measuring spaghetti, sorting beans or beads, and analyzing a mystery mixture, students learn how to make accurate, well-labeled graphs that truly represent their data. Perfect for introducing graphing skills at the start of the ye

Experience

I’m a 20 year veteran teacher at the same school I graduated from! I teach in a rural-suburban district that covers 33 square miles in south central Pennsylvania. During my tenure I have taught various levels of Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Physical and General Science. Most of my experience is in A&P and Chemistry!

Teaching style

My teaching style has pivoted and changed over the years to a more hands on, student centered approach. I still provide lectures, podcasts, and videos but I strive for students to work together engaged in conversations about the topics we are covering. I like to have students review together, and complete activities, labs, and projects in pairs or small groups. I believe it’s important for students to have multiple ways to demonstrate their learning.

My own education history

I have a B.S. in Biology and Secondary Ed. Biology. I followed that up with a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction. Since attaining that degree I have taken at least 20 additional courses in teaching practices, student psychology, and more.

Additional biographical information

I’m a single mom to a young little lady who lights up my life with her spunky personality, her independent nature, and her musical talents (that I don’t have). I’m a coffee and shopping type of girl who loves a great sale! The beach is my happy place, my place of pure relaxation, and I look forward to going every summer.
