Here is a informational writing template you can use to help students understand the basics of writing about informational texts. I used this while introducing the topic of informational texts in order to help get them started on learning the correct way to write about a piece of information.

Sometimes I can find it difficult to pull out my phone during lessons to either give or take away points. I have found that using a clip chart has made it so much easier to hold myself accountable for managing class points! I love doing this activity with my students at the beginning of the year. It's a great way to get kids moving out of their seats and get to know their classmates. As the teacher, even I join in on the fun! Depending on class size, they should try to not repeat any student names on their paper. However, you can play it so they can't repeat the same name more than twice!

These notes follow along to the Math Expressions curriculum, but can be used in any classroom. You can print these out as a full sheet of paper for students to work on along with you, or, how I do it, you can print them out, trim them and have students glue them into a math notebook. By doing this, students have something to refer to throughout the school year.
