Time to conquer those addition and subtraction math facts!
As a big believer in differentiation, and understanding that timed math tests can challenge motor skills in first grade, this is how I begin math fact work! We move into doing timed tests in the spring semester, but this system continues until they have mastered all of the facts.

A.M. and P.M. Book
This is a great resource I use when teaching my guys about AM and PM during my unit on time! By relating it to their own world, they are more likely to remember which one is which! I cut it in half after copying and staple it on the sides for a personal 5.5” x 8” booklet.

Switch it up! Just because it worked last year, does not mean it will work this year! Be ready to differentiate and adapt at the drop of a hat!
Awards & shining teacher moments
Biggest honors are parents asking "Will you please move up with us?" and my own children proudly telling people they meet that "My mom is a 1st grade teacher. And they have fun! I wish she was my teacher."
My own education history
I graduated from Abilene Christian University as a Reading Specialist with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.
Additional biographical information
I frequently tell my parents "My job is better than yours." and boy do I mean it! However, I really love spending time with my family. My husband and I love attending volleyball, football, and basketball games as well as concerts that our 3 kiddos are involved in. Four of us are at the private school where I get to teach, and hubby is down the street at the university! Love love love being on the same campus as my high school-er and middle school-ers!
